Amelco Industries Ltd

The company was established in 1972 in Nicosia, Cyprus. Amelco Industries Ltd is one of the first industries in the south-eastern Mediterranean and Middle East area to supply most of the mattress producers with the necessary raw materials and machinery for the manufacture of innerspring mattresses. The company's objective is to continuously strive to improve the final mattress product and act as a partner to its customers by supporting their bedding needs.

Our Team

Costas Georgallis

Founder and Managing Director
Costas carries more than 40 years of experience in the bedding industry. He is a holder of a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering and of an MSc degree Industrial Administration at City University, London. He is a Chartered Engineer registered at the UK Engineering Council. Through his many years of experience in the field, he has supported the setting up of many bedding companies especially in the Middle East and the ex-Soviet Union and as a result holds very strong ties within the bedding industry.

Andreas Georgallis

Director
Andreas is a holder of a BEng (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, London and of an MBA at INSEAD, France, as well as a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. He has previously worked as a financial analyst at GE Capital and as Corporate Finance associate at a Greek bank. As a Board member he oversees the company’s operations from purchasing, production, costing and export sales, whilst providing his advice and support on financial related matters.

Panicos Chrysochos

General Manager
Panicos joined Amelco in 2020 after spending 6 years at Unilever PMT as production manager. He is a holder of a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Higher Technical Institute. As General Manager, Panicos is responsible for the day-to-day running of the company’s operations that among others includes the optimization of production, setting policies and making decisions guiding productivity, quality, and cost efficiency of plant operations.

Phytos Ierodiaconou

Head of Tender Business
Phytos has been with the company since 1995 while previously has worked for large industrial organisations in Greece, including the Maillis Group. He is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the Athens Polytechnic is responsible for participating in tender processes, finding and liaising with vendors, processing the awarded tenders to ensure prompt delivery and providing after-sales service as required.

Andros Georgalli

Production Manager
Andros joined the company in 1985 and has seen the company evolve through different stages. He has attended numerous training sessions and seminars on technical matters, safety and production processes. He directs and coordinates production, reviews processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments.

Lenia Charalambous

Financial Controller
Lenia has been with the company since 1990. She is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the University of Piraeus, Greece. Lenia is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of the company, prepares monthly financial and management accounts & reports and ensures strong financial controls and processes operate throughout the business.

Stelios Andreou

Chief Engineer
Stelios has been with the company since 1998. He holds a diploma from Cyprus’ Technology Institute and has previously worked for a number of engineering firms. He is in charge of supervising the day to day work of the Engineering Team personnel assigned with the construction of Amelco’s machinery. He creates and maintains an engineering schedule for all machinery orders to be completed with projected start and completion dates. Finally, he provides engineering specifications and vendor capabilities necessary for purchasing to obtain competitive bids for all equipment and parts.

Mary Kounou

Local Sales Officer
Mary joined Amelco in 1992 having worked before in the bedding industry. She has graduated from the English School, Nicosia. She is responsible for registering and processing orders, continuous contact with domestic customers and liaising with the production and logistics departments for prompt delivery.
